Selina L. Mangassarian
Founder of Clinical and Forensic Neuropsychological AssociatesDr. Selina L. Mangassarian, Psy.D., CBIS is a licensed clinical psychologist in California (PSY 30847) and New Mexico (PSY 1515), with extensive expertise conducting clinical and forensic neuropsychological evaluations. Dr. Mangassarian is a Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) and operates a private practice, Clinical & Forensic Neuropsychological Associates (CFNA) with multiple locations throughout Southern California.
Dr. Mangassarian is retained as an expert witness by plaintiff and defense attorneys for her impartial, evidence-based evaluations, and/or consultation. She has a well-established reputation for her proficiency in evaluating TBIs across the lifespan, as well as neurodevelopmental, neuropsychiatric, and neurological diseases in adult, geriatric, and juvenile populations. Her specialties in med-legal neuropsychological evaluations include expert witness qualification for TBI related injuries, personal injury claims, fitness for duty evaluations, worker’s compensation, and wrongful termination/ discrimination claims. Dr. Mangassarian also specializes as an expert witness in criminal forensic neuropsychological evaluations regarding competency to stand trial, amenability to treatment, risk assessment, specific intent, and insanity defense referrals. With CFNA’s main location in Burbank, CA, at the center of multiple production studios, Dr. Mangassarian is often consulted by producers, writers, and actors to provide psychoeducation about the nature of certain mental health diagnoses to ensure accurate storylines and character development.
Dr. Mangassarian earned her doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University, a program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). She also upholds an M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University. Prior to her doctoral level education and training, Dr. Mangassarian earned an M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy and B.A. in Psychology, with a minor in News, Media, and Society, from the University of Southern California.
After completing an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship at the VA Sierra Nevada Healthcare System, Dr. Mangassarian completed a two-year clinical and forensic neuropsychological fellowship at the Neuropsychological Services of New Mexico (NSNM), in conjunction with the University of New Mexico and Raymond G. Murphy VA Medical Center in Albuquerque, NM. This fellowship was modeled on training guidelines that meet qualifications for the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP), Clinical Neuropsychology certification. Her prior neuropsychological position appointments include roles at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior, UCLA Office of Students with Disabilities, LA Valley College Services for Students with Disabilities office, Huntington Hospital Department of Epilepsy and Brain Mapping, and the Children, Youth, and Family Services Consortium.
